Why is this here?

As I follow the US election in 2008, engage people in debates, listen to the thoughts and opinions of others, I'm fundamentally discouraged with America. We are a nation divided, and while it is good that we have this diversity, our divisions are preventing us from fundamentally improving the country. We seem to be in a downward spiral, and as a US Citizen, I would like to do something about it.

Why Open Source?

I think America is an amazing country and our spirit, our drive, and our focus enables us to overcome almost anything. We made a huge impact in WWII, we survived the Great Depression, and our focus in the 60s put a man on the moon. We can solve our problems, but we have to get ideas from all sides, debate them, compromise, and find solutions.

What Can You Do?

I'm a writer, and I have a family and busy life. I can't, or rather don't want to, take the time to volunteer within one of the major parties at this time. But I can do something. Feel free to start a topic on any issue, give us thoughts, talk about what we can do to change things, what compromises might make sense to most people. Give us the view from the Republican, Democratic, Libertarian, or some other side.
